A fake video has been spreading on social media platforms claiming that Hillary Clinton, the 2016 presidential nominee for the Democratic Party, has endorsed Republican Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis, for the presidential race in 2024.
The video shows Clinton saying that DeSantis is just the kind of guy that the country needs and that she likes him a lot. However, it has been revealed that the video was generated using artificial intelligence.
The Twitter account that posted the video later admitted that it was faked with the help of another user.
The flattering comments made by DeSantis about former President Donald Trump in his book The Courage to Be Free, obtained by The Guardian prior to publication, are likely to disappoint Republican Party members who are urging DeSantis to challenge Trump in the 2024 Republican primary race.
Democrats are likely to use DeSantis’s book as evidence that potential Republican candidates are still nervous about assailing Trump directly because of his influence over the party base.
