After Bayern Munich’s defeat to Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final match, Sadio Mane reportedly punched Leroy Sane in the mouth and lip. The altercation took place in the dressing room, and Bayern’s stars had to separate the two wingers.
Mane was picked up separately in a private vehicle when the team arrived back in Munich, while Sane boarded the team coach.
The incident highlights the sizeable task facing Bayern in the second leg at the Allianz Arena on April 19 if they are to launch an improbable comeback.
Mane joined Bayern last summer from Liverpool for £35million and has scored 11 goals in his 32 appearances for the German giants.
Sane, who was with City for four years before joining Bayern in 2020, was on the winning side, as City punished Bayern with goals from Rodri, Bernardo Silva, and Erling Haaland. Bayern has declined to comment on the altercation.
