Bongani Fassie, a musician and producer, survived a brutal attack by unknown assailants who attempted to take his life with a machete while he was driving with a friend in Randpark Ridge, Johannesburg.
Fassie fought back and was able to disarm his attacker, but had already been wounded in the process.
The incident, which was allegedly not the first attempt on Fassie’s life, occurred weeks after he received a chilling message from an unknown person who claimed that he should have been the one killed instead of rap icon Kiernan “AKA” Forbes.
Forbes was killed outside a restaurant in Durban, South Africa, in February, in what is believed to have been a contract killing.
Fassie believes that there is a target on his life and that someone wants to see him dead, and as such, he is living in fear.
The musician’s injuries were substantial, and he is currently recovering from a black eye and three deep cuts on his arm.
