A man has been arrested in India for allegedly planting a bomb at a wedding reception that killed the groom and his brother.
Dhaniram Markam had previously dated the bride, but the woman’s family had refused his proposals and arranged for her to marry another man.
In revenge, Markam devised a plan to create a bomb and hide it inside a home stereo system, which he then wrapped up as a wedding gift.
He reportedly had knowledge of explosives from a previous job at a stone crushing plant.
The bomb was triggered when the groom and his brother plugged in the stereo a few days after the wedding.
The explosion was powerful enough to blow the roof off the house and collapse the walls. Four others were injured in the explosion.
Markam was arrested and charged with murder and attempting to cause an explosion.
