Tragedy struck on the N1 road at the Boab Tollgate in Limpopo province as eight people lost their lives in a horrific multiple vehicle accident.
The cause of the accident is yet to be fully investigated but it is believed that a minibus taxi collided with a truck and then the resulting debris of metal and glass collided with other vehicles on the road.
According to witnesses, the impact was so powerful that the taxi was unrecognizable and several people were flung out of the vehicle. The injured were rushed to the nearby hospitals while it was confirmed that eight people lost their lives on the spot.
