Thabo Bester, a notorious South African criminal, was arrested for defrauding YoTV when he was only 17 years old.
He gained further infamy as the Facebook rapist, after pleading guilty to multiple charges of rape and murder in separate trials in 2011 and 2012.
He was handed an effective life term but was reported to have committed suicide by self-immolation in his cell in May 2021.
However, later evidence suggested that he had escaped, and he was allegedly living with Instagram influencer Nandipha Magudumana, who claimed to be a medical doctor.
Magudumana has not returned to work since news of Bester’s escape broke. The Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPSCA) has now confirmed that Magudumana is not a registered medical doctor, and she is reportedly on the run.
Additionally, three employees at the Mangaung prison where Bester allegedly died were dismissed by G4S Correction Services between September 2022 and January 2023.
They were on duty the night of his supposed suicide, but now there are doubts and allegations that he faked his death and escaped.
