The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has officially denied reports that they have endorsed any presidential candidate ahead of the upcoming elections, Raw Nigeria reports.
According to Punch, Alhaji Seidu Baba, a member of the forum, made this known at a press conference held in Abuja on Saturday, adding that the forum has yet to divulge its consensus candidate for the polls.
He also noted that the rage Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State directed at the forum was because of the allegations that they were supporting the candidature of the former Nigerian Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.
Alh. Seidu further stressed that even if the forum were to endorse a candidate, it wouldn’t be the Waziri of Adamawa because he didn’t show up and wasn’t represented at the solemn assembly organised by the NEF.
He added that Atiku got wind of his rejection, which is why he failed to show up at the NEF Assembly and could not send any representatives.
