Video of Bank staffs jumping fence as customers block gate to get cash sparked outrage

Nigerians have taken to social media to express their outrage after a video of a new generation bank staff fleeing the workplace through the fence at the back as customers surrounded the banking premises in an effort to get money went viral.

This comes as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) insisted on the February 10 deadline for the currency swap, causing untold hardships for millions of Nigerians.

The video, which has sparked outrage across the country, shows the bank staff climbing the fence to escape from their customers. One of them was heard making calls, asking if the police had arrived.

Meanwhile, another video of an 82-year-old man who could not access his hard-earned money from a commercial bank has gone viral. It appears the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN policy on limited cash withdrawals was applied to the man. He was quarrelling and lashing out at the bank staff who he accused of refusing to give him his hard-earned money.

The incident has caused many Nigerians to lambast the federal government for the hardship caused by the CBN naira redesign policy, with many calling for the policy to be revoked. It is yet to be seen whether the government will take any action in response to the outcry from Nigerians.
