The Federal Government has announced that it will launch a website to link local and foreign businesses in order to help Nigerians stranded in the diaspora.

The website, which is to be managed through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model, will serve as a unified portal for the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other foreign missions. The initiative was announced in a statement released to Legit.ng on Friday, January 10.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, recently visited the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) to seek regulatory guidance to manage the portal. The Director General of the ICRC, Michael Ohiani, said the initiative will help curb situations like the recent earthquake in Turkey, providing a platform for Nigerians to reach out to the Mission for help. He also noted that the project could be partly or fully commercialized and that artificial intelligence could be deployed to make the operations more seamless.

The Federal Government’s initiative is expected to provide much needed relief to Nigerians stranded in the diaspora.
