Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections, has promised to invest in oil exploration in Gombe and Bauchi states if elected as the next president of Nigeria. This was revealed during Atiku’s presidential campaign rally in Bauchi.
Atiku also mentioned his plans to revive the rail lines that connect the Northeast subregion with other parts of the country. He also promised to inject the required amount of money to empower youths and women to discourage restiveness and other anti-social behaviour across the country.
In addition, Atiku has discouraged youths in Bauchi and Gombe states from engaging in violent and corrupt activities. The event was attended by the PDP vice presidential candidate, Governor Ifenyi Okowa; the Governor of Bauchi, Senator Bala Mohammed; Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa; Udom Emanuel of Akwa Ibom, and former governors, and senators.
The governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike, has also granted Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party access to the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Rivers state for their campaign rally. This was after months of long-running battle between the two.
The national chairman of the opposition party, Iyorchia Ayu, also urged Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state to work with the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party to rescue Nigeria. Ayu said Ortom’s support is needed to secure Atiku Abubakar’s victory at the 2023 presidential poll a reality.
With Atiku’s promises and the support of influential governors, the PDP is hoping to make a strong showing in the 2023 elections.
