8 School Children Confirmed Dead After Boat Capsizes in Ghana’s Bono East Region

Eight school children in Ghana’s Bono East Region have been confirmed dead after a boat carrying them to school capsized on the Volta Lake.
According to the National Disaster Management Organization, the deceased were five boys and three girls aged five to 12, who were among a group of 20 pupils on their way to school in Wayokope, a community across the lake.
Ibrahim Wudonyim, the coordinator of NADMO, stated that the Marine Police Unit of Ghana Police Service, along with some locals, have recovered the bodies of the victims.
An investigation is being conducted to determine the cause of the accident.
