Gunmen Attack Oguta Police Station in Imo State, Killing One Officer

On Friday night, Oguta Police Station in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State was attacked by a group of gunmen. The police officers on duty, however, were able to repel the attackers.

During the gun battle, which lasted for several hours, one police mobile officer was killed and some of the assailants were injured.

According to an anonymous source, the assailants threw explosives at the police station and opened fire on the officers. The source added that the attackers fled with gunshot wounds and only caused minimal damage to the police facility.

Henry Okoye, the police spokesperson in the state, confirmed that the attackers were repelled. This incident follows the attack on Agwa and Umuaka police divisional headquarters just four days prior. During that attack, some of the perpetrators were neutralized, evidence was recovered, and police officers sustained injuries.
