9 Suspects Arrested for Robbery and Other Offences in Bauchi Metropolis

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested nine suspects for robbery and other offences in the Bauchi metropolis.

On January 15, the command apprehended the suspects, who included Sani Mohammed, 27; Suleiman Mohammed, 19; Imrana Abbas, 19; Ibrahim Muhammed, 18; Hassan Alhassan, 18; and Babangida Salisu, 20. The police recovered two matches, three knives, four mobile phones, and N17,000 from them.

According to the command’s spokesman, SP Ahmed Wakil, the suspects were part of a group of restive youths, locally known as ‘Yan Sara-Suka’, who had gone out in mass to terrorize and loot shops in areas such as Unguwar Kur; Bakaro, Karofi, Yakubu Wanka, Kwanar Kwaila, and Unguwar Doya.

On January 13, the command arrested Umar Abubakar, 21, at Nabardo village in Toro Local Government Area of the state. He was found in possession of a locally made revolver with three 7.62mm live ammunition. The suspect said he had obtained the gun two years ago to chase cattle rustlers in Mangu LGA of Plateau.

The command also arrested one Abdul Mohammed in possession of a stolen vehicle. He was found with a Toyota Corolla LE car with registration number NSR 510 TY, ash in color. The suspect said he had received the vehicle from one Haruna of Biu in Biu LGA of Borno, who is now at large, for onward delivery to one Ibrahim Babaji, 30, of Misau town in Misau LGA of the state. Babaji said he had purchased the car from one Barau Alim Tela, who is also at large.

In conclusion, the Bauchi State Police Command has arrested nine suspects for robbery and other offences in the Bauchi metropolis, as well as one Umar Abubakar and one Abdul Mohammed for possession of stolen vehicles.
